2012 GLI delayed to August due to high demand for Jettas

The Jetta has fallen a victim of its own success. VW cant make enough of them to keep up with demand and while production has ramped up  inventory levels are still at an all time low. Unfortunately for the enthusiast VW has to put priority on its bread and butter models as it struggles to bring inventory levels to  comfortable levels and has put the GLI in the back burner.

All pre sold GLI orders are still sitting in the  order bank and no cars have been built as of today. The GLi is now expected to ship to dealers in August at the earliest.

Inside line 2010 GTI Dyno Test: Regular vs Premium Fuel

Remember i told you it was ok to put regular in your GTI as long as you didn’t mind a 10HP lost? Well inside line has gone and tested my theory and proved me right! Follow test is available on their site.

2012 GLI gets different wheels at the last minute.

2012 GLIs were supposed to be in route to dealers in May but a last minute decision to change the wheels caused a slight delay to June.

VW planned to use the “charleston” wheels used on the 2007 GLI Fahrenheit and 2010 Jetta TDI cup. They went as far as using those wheels for the brochure and Marketting materials. At the New York autoshow they showed the actual 18″ wheel that they will use and I gotta say they look much better! Pic below
