June orders start today

Those looking to place an order for a 2012 car today is the day! . Keep in mind  that dealers can no longer ask for “custom” orders.   Cars ordered today will be built in August and delivered in Sept.

A few notable items:

– Touareg executive can not be ordered at this time

– 2012 Jetta orders wont start until next month

–  First order for 2012 Routan

– Tiguan, Passat and Beetle join the new MBO  ordering system based on overall dealer preferences not individual cars request.

All orders MUST be in by close of business on Friday, June 24, 2011.

  1. Does that mean we can now order a GLI this week?

  2. Thanks Jay! But I’m a little confused. Does this apply to individual buyer orders only? Are dealers still getting shipments of 2012 GTI’s for July?

  3. Please define “MBO ordering system”.

  4. I want to order a GTI, but I was hoping to get pricing on the 2013 GTI-R before I decided to commit to the 2012 GTI. Any idea when the GTI-R pricing and options will be made public?

When dealers take car orders will they expect consumers to pay full sticker price?

  5. Hi Jay,very love your blog. I plan to get a tiguan sel, can i order it now? when will the show car arrive at dealer? i’m in iowa state. thanks a lot

  6. How about SportWagen 2012 orders, Jay? When will we be able to place orders for those? What will be different on those from 2011?

I’m debating getting a Tempest Blue 2011 TDI JSW manual, black interior, rear side airbags, no sunroof. It arrives july 2. Or, I can order it exactly the same way, except with Candy White…but the dealer can’t/won’t give me an approx. date for order or for delivery.

I’ve read the 2012 JSW will come with ipod dock standard. Are there any other changes I should be aware of, good or bad?

I’m ready to make a decision on the ’11 car by Thursday, so I’m REALLY hoping to figure this out ASAP. Any input is totally appreciated!
