Volkswagen Teases the 2012 US Spec Passat replacement

Today VW added a tease of the upcoming 2012 Volkswagen Passat replacement for the US code named “NMS” on the font page. The car debuts on  Jan 10th at the North American International Autoshow.

VW claims the new car is sleeker and roomier  and to me it makes sense that they will call it Passat since making that kind statement  implies that there was one before it. Don’t confuse this Passat with the european model however, as this Passat will be unique to our market and maybe China. Pricing is expected to start around $20K . Come back here in 6 more days for full details on this new car

  1. Rachael and Robert

Hope it’s not the typical US auto demographic move to service the fatties and floating highway travel…wait, did I mention recent products are targeting the slums (e.g. cheap plastics, boot supports, sound deaden, junk radios, etc…the door even close like an old first generation Kia.

    Thanks for listenin’

  2. And those $7,000 are saved only because its made in US right? It is still as refined as a normal passat or will it also join the jetta? I know i know comeback in 6 days, but the suspense is killing me!

  3. I posted this to the CC discussion, too, but here is a reply I received from VW regarding an NMS Wagon.

“The German-designed, American-made NMS is scheduled to arrive at US dealers around Fall 2011. There are no plans, however, to offer this model in a wagon version. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. Specific vehicle options and package configurations are based on our current marketing objectives, past years’ sales, and extensive US market analysis. Customer feedback is also always a driving force in the production of new models, and we’re grateful you took the time to share your feedback with us.

More information about the NMS will be released after the NMS’s unveiling next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.”

  4. I was invited to take a VW survey this morning. In it, I was asked to comment on a variety of new financing plans for the NMS (payment varies by miles driven, lock in an APR for future VWs, etc…). Interesting ideas.

Nevertheless, at the top of the survey was an image with 4 vehicles: B6 Passat, B6 Passat Wagon, VEHICLE I CANNOT IDENTIFY, Current CC.

Is there a way for me to upload the picture? It looks an awful lot like it may be the NMS!
