2011 Touareg to ditch the dip stick

The 2011 Volkswagen Touareg will be the first VW in the US to ditch the traditional metal dip stick in favor of a digital display in the MFI similar to Audi’s setup. But don’t be afraid! VW AG has been doing it for years in many Audi models, Porsche and BMW do this as well. With advancements in engine ,lubrication technology and 10,000 to 15,000 mile oil changes the dipstick is hardly ever used these days. welcome to the future folks! feel free to toss away that nasty oily rag you keep in the trunk.

  1. Some things are better left that technology gets in the way. What happens if the digital sensor goes bad and you’re getting an improper oil reading? Bye bye motor.
