2010 GTI goes on the dyno

The folks at Futurell Autowerks got their hands on a 2010 GTI and wasted little time to get it on the dyno (a device for measuring power). What they found is something that most of us VW enthusiast already knew: The TSI engine makes more HP than Volkswagen wants us to believe. HP at the wheels was measured between 199 and 203 while torque measured between 205 and 208 during the three runs. When you take into account that there is an average of 17% drivetrain loss it means the GTI makes 220Hp and 230 FT/LB of torque.

Here is their Dyno graph showing the awesome flat torque curve and smooth HP curve along with a video of their dyno run.

  1. Awesome blog!

I thought about starting my own blog too but I’m just too lazy so, I guess Ill just have to keep checking yours out.

  2. If the dyno showed 200hp, and that was only 83% because of the drivetrain, the engine was actually producing about 245hp.
