VW cancels all rear view cameras due to Japan quake
The unfortunate events in Japan have caused VW phase out the rear view cameras on most of its cars. VW will not install rear view cameras in the following models: CC Lux Plus, Lux Limited, and VR6, Touareg, and Tiguan SEL w/Premium Nav. VW is working on finding a new supplier and has created alternate configurations for the models mentioned above. The Routan is not affected.

If like me you have found your self driving down a road that your nav system thinks is a empty piece of land there is now a solution for you. Volkswagen just released MapCare 2010 and latter VWs equipped with the RNS315 navigation system.

Park Distance Control coming to 2011 Jetta..Sort of
Park Distance Control (PDC ) is just a fancy name for “the car will beep just before you hit something” system. Owners of 2011 Jettas will now be able to retrofit this feature or get it installed at the time of purchase. Here is the info you will need:

The park distance control, with 4-valve stem and acoustic warning function, provides additional safety when parking. This park distance control is easy to install and effectively helps avoid unsightly damage to the bumpers when reversing. A short sound (emitted when reverse gear is engaged) indicates that the system is active. The closer the vehicle comes to the obstacle, the more frequently the signal is emitted.
